Die Märchenwelt der Trolle, Shit- und Candystorms

Manchmal hat man den Eindruck, bei Social Media handele es sich um düstere böse Märchenwelten, in denen an allen Ecken fiese Trolle herumgeistern und stinkende Stürme toben. Vor allem der sogenannte "Shitstorm" (aus shit = Sch.... und storm = Sturm) löst Unbehagen und Angst aus und wird leider oft als Argument dafür verwendet, nicht in sozialen Medien aktiv zu sein. (Diese Angst kommt Versicherungen natürlich gerade recht, die bereits entsprechende Policen anbieten.)

Das Internet ist Teil unserer Realität, in der es leider auch nicht nicht immer sehr gesittet oder vernunftgesteuert zugeht. Wenn Diskussionen durch unsachliche Beiträge verhindert werden oder emotional außer Kontrolle geraten, oder wenn wüste Tiraden und Beschimpfungen in den sozialen Netzwerken die Menge aufstacheln, spricht man (ironischerweise hauptsächlich im deutschsprachigen Raum) immer wieder von Shitstorm, was der DUDEN mit "Sturm der Entrüstung in einem Kommunikationsmedium des Internets, der zum Teil mit beleidigenden Äußerungen einhergeht", übersetzt.

So unangenehm ein empörte Menge sich auch verhalten kann, man sollte dennoch nicht jede Kritik und jeden Verzicht auf Netiquette nach dem Motto "Wer mit Sch.... schmeißt, hat nix als SCH.... zu sagen" gleich als Shitstorm abqualifizieren. Man sollte sich zudem weder in Panik versetzen lassen, noch Kritik ignorieren, - insofern sie sachlich und berechtigt ist. Wenn Sie eine negative Reaktion erhalten, sollten Sie folgende Punkte sondieren: Ist die Kritik berechtigt? Wer kritisiert? Ein "Kunde"? Jemand aus Ihrer Bezugsgruppe? Stimmen die Fakten? Dann kommunizieren Sie darüber, was Sie zu tun gedenken und wie Sie das thematisierte Problem lösen werden. Stimmen die Fakten nicht? Dann korrigieren Sie. In jedem Fall, bleiben Sie sachlich und höflich!

Wenn Sie von einem sogenannten Troll (DUDEN: ursprüngliche Bedeutung: "dämonisches Wesen, das männlich oder weiblich sein, die Gestalt eines Riesen oder eines Zwergs haben kann") belagert werden, dann können Sie ihn gegebenfalls höflich verbessern, wenn er Unrecht hat oder höflich Ihre Position erläutern, wenn diese missverständlich oder unsachlich kommentiert wird. Als Trolle bezeichnet man im Web2.0 Menschen, die überall etwas zu zündeln haben, stänkern, mobben, geschmacklose Witze machen, ihr Gift verbreiten oder Diskussionen auf eine Ebene ziehen, auf die sie nicht gehört. Leider gibt es auch "im echten Leben" immer wieder Menschen, die überall meinen, ihren Müll ausschütten zu müssen.- Da hier Argumentation leider oft ein sinnloses Unterfangen ist, sollten Sie Trolle am besten ignorieren bzw. sich davon deutlich distanzieren. Kommentare, die in irgendeinerweise rassistisches oder menschenverachtendes Gedankengut o.ä. wiedergeben, sollten Sie in jedem Fall löschen, unbedingt mit der Begründung, dass Sie dieses auf Ihrem Account nicht zulassen. Im Ernstfall können Sie die Beiträge außerdem als Spam melden und den Urheber blockieren. Zum Thema #hatespeech haben wir einen eigenen Blogbeitrag verfasst.

Beispielhaft haben die Administratoren der Facebook-Seite von ING-Diba reagiert. Ein Werbespot der Bank, in dem Basketball-Star Dirk Nowitzki in einer Metzgerei ein Scheibe Wurst geschenkt bekommt, hatte Veganer und Vegetarier zu einen Sturm der Entrüstung über die Kernaussage des Spots "Fleisch macht groß & stark" veranlasst. Die Bank überlässt den Nutzern die Facebook-Seite als Diskussionsplattform und regt explizit zur Auseinandersetzung an. Erst nach zwei Wochen hat ING-Diba die Debatte freundlich aber bestimmt beendet und die Diskussion (Thread), in der es nie um die Bank selbst, sondern vor allem um den Streit zwischen Veganern/Vegetariern und Fleischessern ging, mit der Begründung gelöscht, dass nun zu diesem Thema alles gesagt sei. Das Fazit des Sturms war, dass die Zahl der Facebook-Fans sich in kürzester Zeit fast verdoppelt hat und ING-Diba zumindest im Netz in aller Munde war.

Dann ist ein Shitstorm also auch eine Marktlücke? Manchmal bin ich mir ehrlich gesagt gar nicht so sicher, ob da auf den Social-Media-Kanälen von großen Marken, Unternehmen und Parteien teilweise nicht auch bewusst gezündelt wird oder man sogar zündeln lässt? Zum einen um auf sich aufmerksam zu machen? Um andere zu diskreditieren? Zum anderen gibt es immer mehr Dienstleister, die davon leben. Ich meine jetzt nicht die seriösen Agenturen, die Unternehmen bei ihrer Social-Media-Strategie beraten und Support für den Ernstfall bieten. Aber seit in meiner Timeline der Link zu einer Agentur aufgetaucht ist, die mit dem Slogan wirbt, "it takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only a few seconds to destroy one," halte ich (fast) alles für möglich: Hier gibt es nämlich einen echten Shitstorm zu kaufen. Und zwar in vier Varianten und in den Preisklassen von schlappen 1999.- € (Mini) bis satten 12.999.- (Long Storm). Die "Über-Uns"-Angaben lassen allerdings hoffen, dass diese Seite eine Fake-Account ist, der die abstruse Entwicklung des Marktes schwer auf den Arm nimmt. Oder doch nicht? Hier schaut einem jedenfalls süßlich gefiltert das zarte Bubenantlitz des Agentur-Inhabers entschlossen, aber auch ein wenig dämlich entgegen. Dieser knapp volljährige holde Knabe will uns stinkende Stürme verkaufen? Ein Schelm, wer Schlechtes dabei denkt! (Anmerkung 3. November 2014: Entweder das Ganze war tatsächlich ein Fake oder die Shit-Storms werden nur noch unter der Ladentheke verkauft. Inzwischen kann man auf dieser Seite offensichtlich nur noch Fans kaufen...)

Nein, es ist nicht alles schlecht. Und auch im Märchen gibt es neben Trollen und bösen Hexen, die gute Fee und Bäche, in denen Milch und Honig fließen. Und Candystorms. Candystorms? Das sind die guten Stürme, in denen sich Menschen in ihren Netzwerken zusammenschließen, moblisieren, um gemeinsam Gutes zu tun.

Die Feedback Community "Telekom hilft" ist eigentlich eine gute Fee, die durch bösen Zauber kurz auf Abwege geraden ist. In Hamburg war am letzten Wochenende die Veranstaltung Educamp gefährdet, da die Telekom sich kurzfristig nicht in der Lage sah, den entsprechenden Techniker zu entsenden, der neben der geschalteten Bandbreite für die digitale Basis der Veranstaltung garantieren sollte. Der Veranstalter Jöran Muuß-Merholz setzte über Twitter unter dem Schlagwort #telekomhilf einen freundlichen Notruf an das Twitterteam von @telekom_hilft ab, der sich in seinem Netwerk rasch verbreitete. 200 charmante #telekomhilf-Notrufe seiner Twitterfreunde konnten die vom Bann belegte gute Fee schließlich erlösen und innerhalb von 72 Stunden war der rettende Techniker vor Ort.
Und wenn sie nicht gestorben sind, dann....

Nachtrag vom 22. August 2014: Nachdem das organisierte "Betrollen zu Propagandazwecken" (etwa bei der medialen Ukraine-Berichterstattung) immer mehr zunimmt, empfiehlt der Chefredakteur von ZEIT ONLINE, Jochen Wegner vor allem eins: "Wir müssen uns täglich selbst einmischen. Millionen von Menschen, die zivilisiert debattieren, die falschen Informationen richtige entgegensetzen, die Störer gelassen übergehen und bei seltsamen Spam-Wellen aufmerksam werden, sind unbesiegbar. Einem aufgeklärten digitalen Bürgertum ist keine Troll-Armee gewachsen."
